‘The Family of Children’ is a follow on from the major exhibition ‘The Family of Man’ which was an exhibition curated by Edward Steichen 1995. The exhibition contained 508 photographs by 273 photographers in 68 countries and was later turned into a book. I was aware of ‘The family on Man’ previously but didn’t think it fitted in with my family photography research as it was a lot broader than what I was looking at. However ‘The Family of Children’ is more appropriate and I enjoyed looking through the images.
‘The Family of Children’ is the book created by the world’s photographers to follow ‘The Family of Man’. From more than 300,000 photographs, 377 taken by 218 photographers in 70 countries were selected to let you look at and feel the morning time of life, the unique qualities and universal experiences of childhood, the kinship of young people with young people everywhere on earth.
